Michael H. Tomalin joined the National Bank of Abu Dhabi (NBAD) as its group chief executive in 1999.
Tomalin trained as an investment manager at NM Rothschild in London before broadening into general management at Barclays, culminating in his appointment as chief executive of Barclays Global Private Banking in 1992. NBAD, the UAE capital's largest lender, was established in 1968 and has more than 90 branches across the UAE while its overseas network stretches from Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain in the GCC, Egypt, Libya and Sudan in Africa, London, Paris and Geneva in Europe, to Washington DC. in the United States.
In October, NBAD posted a 41 percent rise in third quarter profits.
